BME Faculty of Architecture ranked among the Top 50 worldwide

The Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) Faculty of Architecture is ranked among the top 50 worldwide in the Bee Breeders multi-year rankings.

As we can read on the official website of the university, the Bee Breeders Architecture University Rankings is the world’s leading architecture ranking. Bee Breeders is one of the world’s leading architecture competition organisers, and the ranking has been published since 2019.

The authors rank architecture universities/faculties according to how many architecture competitions their students have entered.

This year, the compilers of the ranking looked at all the results from previous years combined to produce an “All Time Best” list. The ranking puts BME in 41st place, ahead of all other universities in Hungary.

The 2nd Hungarian university in the ranking after BME is Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), ranking at #43, while the third is the University of Pécs, ranking at #88.

According to bme.hu, the university has also performed well in previous years. It ranked first among Hungarian universities in 2019 and 2020, and in 2021, it was among the top 60 universities in the international ranking.

“At BME Faculty of Architecture, we build on the creativity of our students. Innovative student projects complete the professional education, which is why we are particularly proud of our achievement in the Bee Breeders ranking. This confirms that our approach is successful even in international comparison,”

emphasised György Alföldi, Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at BME.

On top of that, the Faculty of Architecture of BME celebrates its 150th anniversary in the academic year 2021/2022. In 1871, architectural studies started at the university, however, it was then known as the József Nádor University of Technology.

According to their website, BME’s architectural degree is one of the first degrees in architecture to be accepted without restriction by the EU. Today, an architecture degree awarded by BME is recognised and accepted all over the world.
